Lydia Wilson Foundation (LWF) Supports Internally Displaced Persons In Kaduna State Nigeria

Relief materials of toiletries and bags of Fertilizers procured for the IDPs were delivered in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State by Lydia Wilson Foundation through their local partner RADi on the 20th of July 2020. The IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons), under Kallah Ward in Kajuru LGA, were displaced when their villages were attacked and occupied by Fulani herdsmen between 19th of May to 24th May 2020. The villages affected are: 1. Idazau 2. Etiissi 3. Bakin Kogi 4. Dutsen Gora 5. Ungwan Gora 6. Pushu Kallah 7. Magunguna Human Casualties: 9 deaths were confirmed, 78 people injured, 607 houses burnt, and 47 people still missing. These 47 missing are suspected to be dead, but villagers have not been able to go to these villages to ascertain or retrieve dead bodies as the Fulani’s that attacked them have taken over most of the villages. These displaced villagers are currently taking shelter at Rimau village. There are currently estimated 1,000 of them still in Rimau, being sheltered by kind and generous inhabitants of Rimau village in their various homes. The supplied toiletries will go a long way in helping them stay clean and enable good hygiene, as they have no money to buy these essentials. The bags fertilizer supplied is of great value because those who are beneficiaries will be able to enrich their farmland, and have enough grains for food and for the remaining grains, we expect them to sell and this will act as a means of getting income for their continuous upkeep. It’s an avenue for them to maintain self-sustainable income. Much as providing food and essentials is very important and necessary, it can only last for a certain time. The people ultimately need to be able to return to their homes and rebuild their lives again. For now, they need to be empowered to have sustainable income, either through trading or farming, so they can rent their own houses and be able to care for themselves and their families. To enable us to reach out to more of these displaced persons, we need your support today. Visit: https://ugs.gpl.temporary.site/website_4bdce1bd/donations/
